Air and climate: common causes? By Jean-Pascal van Ypersele

Jean-Pascal van Ypersele is a professor at UCL, former Vice President of the IPCC (2005-2008), Chairman of the Energy and Climate Working Group of the Federal Council for Sustainable Development, co-author of the United Nations GSDR Sustainable Development report.

He is also author, with Thierry Libaert and Philippe Lamotte, of Une vie au cœur des turbulences climatiques (De Boeck).

The air we breathe allows life. The climate we have enjoyed for ten thousand years has allowed the development of civilizations. Shamelessly, we treat the atmosphere of the Earth like a trash bin, whereas it is the only planet that is habitable in the solar system. Polluting gases, fine particles, CO2 emitted by all that we burn make the air impure and seriously disturb the climate.

Beyond the mechanisms, which will be explained, the conference will also take stock of our individual and collective means of action.

Reference will be made in particular to the "Letters" produced by the Walloon Platform for the IPCC hosted by J.P. van Ypersele, who will be at your disposal here.

Entry price: 10 euros
