La céramique est centrale dans l’oeuvre de Hugo Meert car elle lui permet d’explorer l’univers des objets du quotidien. La translucidité de la porcelaine l’amène à créer par exemple des lampes déformées qui rappellent le caractère incontrôlable de ce matériau au four avec un clin d’oeil aux lampes design bon marché. La lampe Parfait Composé a été récompensée en 2006 par le prestigieux "Henry Van De Velde Label".
Grown from a candlestick with an upright candle, an electrical lamp can handle a lot more. A leaning and indented lampshade provide me with the idea to create this in porcelain. More recent designs of these lampshades are lying a bit melted away over the edge of a dresser or seem to be thrown against a wall and stick there as a wall decoration. Looking “too tired to function”, they all have a unique touch of imperfection.
In 2006, “Parfait Composé “ received the prestigious “Henry Van De Velde Label” from Design Flanders in Brussels.
